Safety Notice.
Lipsmackers Gourmet Doggie Treats are safe for your pet. Our treats do not contain wheat gluten or rice protein concentrate (gluten), the suspected cause of the pet food recall in early 2007.
Ingredients
Whole wheat graham flour - the bran, germ and endosperm remain in the flour, with no preservatives and no additives. Nothing added and nothing taken away. Whole wheat contains B vitamins, folic acid, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and other minerals.
Wheat germ - the germ is the most nutrition portion of the wheat kernel and makes up only about 2 ½% of its weight. Wheat germ contains very little of the stick gluten protein to which many with wheat allergy react.
Apple (dried) - the pectin in apple helps clear toxins from the body. Also fairly high in antioxidants and in animal studies it protects the brain from age-related damage.
Egg - provide methionine, use in conjunction with lysine to make I-carnitine, an amino acid used specifically by the heart muscle.
Pecans - are a good source of protein and also unsaturated fats. The antioxidants and plant sterols found in pecans have been shown to reduce high cholesterol by oxidizing the (bad) LDL cholesterol levels.
Cornmeal - is flour ground from dried maize (corn).
Vanilla - is one of the most popular flavorings in the world. It is used to enhance flavor.
Garlic (fresh) - offer anti-microbial and antioxidant activity, in addition to adding flavor to the treats. Garlic also helps prevent fleas. Garlic is useful in lowering blood sugar, lowering blood pressure and as in immune booster.
Cinnamon - is also a good digestive herb and may help reduce insulin resistance.
Organic Brown sugar - natural sugar is milled on the day of harvest, with a simple crystallization. The juice is pressed from sun-ripened sugar cane, washed, filtered and crystallized-all right on farms. Natural sugars are less processed, they retain more of the original flavor of the sun-sweetened sugar cane. No additives or preservatives, nothing artificial - just natural sweetness to enhance foods flavors.
Carob - is an acceptable substitute for chocolate that will not harm your pet. Carob is similar in taste to chocolate with no harmful side affects. Many commercially available dog treats use carob in many forms including chips. Substituting carob in any treats baked at home allows human and canine family members to enjoy eating together without worry.
Peanut butter - sugar free peanut butter provides protection against cardiovascular disease due to high levels of monounsaturated fats and reservation. An excellent source of protein and vitamins B3 and E, peanuts also contain magnesium, foliate, dietary fiber. Peanuts also contain high levels of an antioxidant called p-coumaric acid.
Milk 2% - Nutritional benefits, contains less fat, also essential vitamins and minerals. Study show possible link between low-fat milk consumption and reduced risk of arterial hypertension, coronary heart disease and obesity.
Honey - is a sweet and viscous fluid produced by honey bees from the nectar of flowers. “The definition of honey stipulates a pure product that does not allow for the addition of any other substance. This includes, but is not limited to, water or other sweeteners”. Honey is significantly sweeter than table sugar and has attractive chemical properties for baking. Honey has a distinctive flavor which leads some people to prefer it over sugar and other sweeteners.
Cheddar Cheese - cheese is an important source of protein, B vitamins such as riboflavin and vitamin B12 and the minerals calcium, zinc, phosphorus and magnesium. It also contains small amounts of vitamins A and D. By using fat-free cheese, helps cut down on high saturated fat.
Butter flavor shortening - 50% less saturated fat than butter.
Margarine (low-fat) - has no Trans fat and no cholesterol.
Granola (dried) - a mixture of rolled oats, nuts, mixed with honey and brown sugar. Then the granola is baked until crispy.
Graham crackers - Low fat, whole grain, honey graham crackers.
B-B-Q sauce - Honey flavored barbecue sauce.
Oats - Oatmeal helps lower your total and bad cholesterol, and that can help keep your arteries clean and healthy. Plus, oatmeal is low in sodium. A low sodium diet can help manage blood pressure. Also it make’s a difference in the health of your heart.
Safflower oil (pure) - is a cholesterol-free food with 14g total fat per serving.
Baking Soda - rising agent.
Baking Powder - leavening agent.
